Fotobudka jako zautomatyzowane urzΔ dzenie, ktΓ³re wykonuje zdjΔcia i od razu je drukuje, powstaΕa w 1925 roku. UruchamiaΕa prosty rytuaΕ β wejΕcie, pozowanie, odbitka. W 1982 Michel Foucault pisaΕ o βtechnologiach siebieβ β sposobach, jakie jednostka stosuje wobec wΕasnego ciaΕa, wizerunku i duszy, aby ksztaΕtowaΔ swoje ja/self w celu dΔ ΕΌenia do lepszego samopoczucia i w konsekwencji β ΕΌycia. W dobie filtrΓ³w, deepfakeβΓ³w i avatarΓ³w, to ksztaΕtowanie ulega znacznej dekonstrukcji β obraz siebie staje siΔ pΕynny i nieskoΕczenie edytowalny.
W tej pracy akt ksztaΕtowania self/ja zostaje oddany sztucznej inteligencji. Kamera rejestruje wizerunek odwiedzajΔ cej osoby, ktΓ³ry nastΔpnie zostaje poddany deformacji przez AI (ComfyUI). Po naciΕniΔciu przycisku (spustu migawki) zdjΔcie jest zapisywane i trafia do cyfrowego archiwum wyΕwietlanego na monitorach (TouchDesigner). W nawiΔ zaniu do tytuΕu wystawy, kaΕΌdy kolejny portret staje siΔ eksponatem i doΕΔ cza do rosnΔ cej cyfrowej bazy danych β wspΓ³Εczesny gabinet osobliwoΕci.

The photo booth, an automated device that takes photos and immediately prints them, was created in 1925. It initiated a simple ritual β enter, pose, print. In 1982, Michel Foucault wrote about „technologies of the self” β the ways individuals apply to their own body, image, and soul to shape their self in order to achieve better well-being and, consequently, life. In the age of filters, deepfakes, and avatars, this shaping is significantly deconstructed β the self-image becomes fluid and infinitely editable.
In this work, the act of shaping the self is entrusted to artificial intelligence. A camera captures the visitor’s image, which is then deformed by AI (ComfyUI). After pressing the button (the shutter button), the photo is saved and transferred to a digital archive displayed on monitors (TouchDesigner). Referencing the exhibition’s title, each subsequent portrait becomes an exhibit and joins a growing digital databaseβa contemporary cabinet of curiosities. Referring to Foucault’s theory, the body and image are filtered through an algorithm, and the soul through an archive. The selfie as an act of surrender to the machine. Perhaps this is what a modern mirror looks like: made of pixels, without glass, but with the limitless possibilities of code.
Prompt used: a surreal archival portrait resembling a preserved organic specimen, softly distorted facial structure, hues of blue and violet, gentle textures like skin, fog, and liquid, framed as a digital artifact from a dream world.
